Speaking at the occasion, the UNN, primary School, Chairman, Board of Governors, Prof. Catherine Oreh noted that Inter-House Sports are important parts of the school life and are renowned for being the liveliest events in the school calendar. “The sports game are among other things meant to instil into the children the spirit of sportsmanship as children learn to accept it when they lose, and rejoice when they win, and still love each other in spite of winning or losing”, she said.
Prof. Oreh hinted that the drive of the Board of Governors is to make the University school the centre for academic and sporting excellence not just in Nigeria, but globally.
Further, she applauded the Vice-Chancellor and his management team, Alumni, parents and other sponsors stressing that without their unalloyed assistance, the event would not have been grand and colourful.
Highlights at the sports meet include a lecture delivered by a student of the University primary school, Iwuchukwu Chidiebube on the “Benefits of participating in physical activities”. She said physical activity amongst many other benefits reduces the risk of cancers, such as colon and breast cancer.
